A. New. Sonic. RPG. On. DS. WooooooooooooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!

So lookin foward to this. an RPG fan myself, gotta love a good RPG. And a Sonic Turn based one coming to the DS this year with Big the Cat in, what more could you ask for?

Wikipedia:

Gameplay:

In the current build of the game, special attacks are made by rhythmically tapping and dragging on indicated locations on the touch screen of the Nintendo DS, much like Elite Beat Agents. These are done using "Fatigue Points", which are similar to "Magic Points" (MP) in other RPGs. The player can also choose which attributes to increase when leveling up, and special attacks can be bought using rings as currency. The battle system will also allow for team attacks, said of Chrono Trigger, or Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.

When in open areas, a map is displayed on the top screen as well as the members of the current team; while inside buildings or caves the top screen reverts to showing an expanded view of the area, the controls will be done through the use of the stylus instead of the d-pad much like Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

According to the official game site, players will be able to collect different types of Chao with different abilities that will somehow aid in combat. Players can trade Chao with each other via WiFi connection.

The game will have two acts, one set in a standard Sonic area, while the other set will take place in an alternate dimension. There will also be sidequests in the game. There will be over 20 different areas to explore.

Story:

Sonic is on vacation from defeating Eggman two years ago. He gets a call from Tails that Knuckles has been kidnapped by a group called the Zoah, and that six Chaos Emeralds are missing.

According to BioWare, Eggman will not be the main villain, but he will be a "more credible bad guy again". The game will also have fully animated cut scenes. According to Nintendo Power magazine, "The second act takes place in a darker world than we're accustomed to seeing in Sonic games".

The game also introduces a new character named Shade. However, at this time it is still unknown what or who Shade is, other than that she is female.

BioWare has stated that they want to expand on the characters and tie up loose ends left by previous installments of the franchise.

The graphics dont look all to great, but still looks damn good, post your opinions or new news for this game here. Just a genral Discussion. ^_^

Cool!!!  I want to try this!  But movement with the stylus would be weird in a Sonic game though.

It comes out this year, but only in Japan, right?  Then we'll have to wait longer...

So as long as it has that classic high speed thrill that we have all come to love I'm ok with it. Just hoping the touch screen controls don't mess that up too much.

It might have an option where you can change it to Controls.

I hope so because the Sonic series prides itself in simple controls. It's been that way ever since the first Sonic game on the Sega Genesis. It's neat to have a different control scheme but may not be good to mess with something that's been a staple in the series fo so long.

I love this game. I really do. I like how the team is customizable for the most part (Sonic, Knuckles, Shadow and Omega ftw.)

I've heard that it has good ratings.  I want to play it, and I would get it, but I have wayyy too many games right now and not that much time (until next week).

Do you use the touch screen a lot in this?

Yeah. For moving about, for battles. But, it's not the Phantom Hourglass kind of using it. It's easier. It's fun for saying it's Touch Screen movement.
